WYD PROMOTION across Vietnamese parishes
9-23 June 2007
Hello everyone,
It is with much happiness and relief that I write this:
The June Promotion project was a huge success!
Not only was it completed successfully, it was completed in style! We planted WYD interest and made some new friends amongst the youth, and we gave parents hope… what else can I say?
I had heaps of fun, and I hope you guys did too.
Now, just a short (hahah) thank you note to all the key participants in this project.
Thanks to...
*AHoa & ALoc: for showing us that anything can be achieved if we put our mind to it. ALoc, for donating your daughter Amy to the Promo cause. AHoa, for bringing along an excellent representation of both your immediate and extended family to our Monthly Mass (you got the most points for sure!).
Bao: for all the pamphlet folding and still associating with me, I think, after all my embarrassing waving and yelling out to people from the car.
* Ben: for being with us in spirit...anh mot!!
* Cam: for coming to our Monthly Mass though I didn't get a chance to say hi to you =(
* Cha Liem: for shocking me by introducing me in front of everyone at mass, but for reminding us what a humorous, warm, sweet friend and priest you are.
* Chau gai: for filling in as Group C speaker at the last minute with all your usual energy.
* Chau + Mai: for your advice and friendship all the way from Melbourne.
* Chi: for asking me to change the pre-set mass schedule just so you could attend a particular mass. Chi, thanks for your ever-ready support.
* Chi Quyen: for being an excellent speaker and doing 3 masses yesterday when you were coming down with the cold I must be passing on to you =(
* David + Trang: for taking care of the sausage sizzle yesterday. David, for attending the WYD Reps meeting with me.
* Hang: for the fantastic powerpoint and FAQs pamphlet designs, and for responding to everything with super lightning speed.
* Hoai: for your dedication and patiently putting up with me when I'm stressed. Sorry Hoai =(
* Huy: for holding onto the pamphlets so well after the initial drop, and for your unique enthusiasm.
* Huyen & Trang: for saying you loved Dare You to Move and trying to save me from imprisonment @ Bass Hill.
* Khang: for holding Group C members' hands during the Our Fathers even though you looked completely embarrassed and slightly ashamed!
* Linh N: for working around your intricate schedule including a Guns 'N Roses concert to keep to your allocated masses.
* Mary: for being brave and giving your testimony at your dad's parish.
* Sy & Linh T: for organising the Youth Choir who are such generous supporters of ours. I promise I'll try my hardest to go to the next practice, really!
* Tam: for putting on an oversized yellow T-shirt after we ran out of the smaller sizes.
* The: for jumping right in to help out after your holiday.
* Thuan Nhi: for sacrificing your Walk for Christ and partially abandoning your Activ8 program to attend your masses.
* Thuc: for listening to, and carrying out, all my sensible WYD Promo demands, and being calm about the less sensible ones.
* Tram, Tai, Tho: for so quickly becoming great supporters, and more importantly, great friends of ours.
* Trung: for coming to the Bass Hill mass and waiting half an hour for a parking spot...
* Uyen H: for gathering the Plumpton forces.
* Uyen T: for so WILLINGLY doing your colossal SEVEN masses, and doing them so well.
* Viet Anh: despite being so busy, for always encouraging me. I was very glad to see you at mass yesterday.
A special thank you to all our members who helped out at various masses over these 3 weeks. Your time was greatly appreciated. We are always so happy to have you join in our activities. Especially when you ask at the end, “So, what’s the next Thanh Nien event?” There’s plenty happening this year, keep an eye out for our emails!
That's all I can remember for now. If I've left anyone out, please email and abuse because everyone's done something I must thank them for. How could Promo have occurred without all you guys?
Warmest regards
