Trivia Night

Saturday, August 4th 2007

In which century did Shakespeare die?

Which planet represents the zodiac symbol Gemini?

If we didn’t know the answers to this before, we do now! Thanh Nien’s first inaugural Trivia Night was held on Saturday 4th August at St. Therese school hall in Lakemba.

Amidst a mountain of pizza boxes, answer sheets, and continuous cups of tea in an attempt to stave off the cold, six teams vied for first place. At times, MC Michael Vu could barely be heard over the cacophony of laughter and voices shouting out answers – both correct and incorrect!

It was a tight race, with a different leader at the end of each of the three rounds. We battled through some obscure questions and the ever-present cold but an enjoyable night was had by all. Congratulations to Team Awesome who took home the prize amongst some pretty tight competition.

Of course, a lot of planning occurs in the background to ensure an event such as this runs smoothly (uh, anyone have the keys to the building?). Thanks to Michael for the planning of the event and for taking on hosting duties, to the Thanh Nien members and to everyone who attended. Hopefully we will have some easier questions next time, or maybe the markers will be open to bribes…
