President's message - 31/12/07

Cac ban than men,
It is a beautiful, sunny day in Sydney as I write this message.
Looking back at an amazing 2007, I cannot help but be filled with hope and excitement for Lien Doan Thanh Nien Cong Giao Sydney in the year ahead.
I see our usually shy choir blasting out the hymns with impressive vocals at a monthly mass. I see our male dancers in their pretty ballerina skirts (!) making the nuns blush at the nursing home Concert. I see friends at our Christmas picnic relaxing with a volleyball game and a guitar. I see hundreds of gold "lifesaver" WYD4VN shirts surrounding the WYD Cross and Icon at Bringelly, symbolising the unity of the youth across the Vietnamese Catholic Community.
There's been hard work, no doubt, but always so much faith and laughter.
I envisage this for 2008, and more.
The youth of the world will arrive on our doorstep for World Youth Day in July. Prepare to experience the Catholic Church of Sydney come alive! Be with us as we welcome Vietnamese pilgrims from all over the world for this international celebration of Youth!
Our faith has carried us this far. We have such hopes for the future. We'll live our lives in great friendship, sharing God's love with others.
This is what LDTNCG means to me, and I hope it will come to mean just as much, or even more, to you.
To every Vietnamese youth in Sydney - the youth who already belongs to 4 different movements in the community or the youth who rarely goes to a Sunday mass - we welcome you all! So, come and join in the fun, the friendship and help LDTNCG grow.
You will witness LDTNCG bloom bigger and brighter than it has ever done before.
"Do not be afraid."
Keep smiling.
Phuong Pham
