Leading up to the canonisation of Mary MacKillop, and to celebrate the significant
yet simple life of this amazing Catholic nun, the Vietnamese Catholic Community
organised a pilgrimage to Mary MacKillop’s place in North Sydney on Saturday
18 September 2010.

It was a unique occasion to visit Mary MacKillop’s place along with other pilgrims
to experience its beauty and relive her remarkable life in a peaceful atmosphere.
All pilgrims had the opportunity to tour every part of her place – the stunning
Memorial Chapel which holds the tomb of Mary MacKillop, the Museum and gardens.

The day kicked off with a community mass in the Memorial Chapel celebrated by
Father Duong Thanh Liem and Father Chu Van Chi. Followed by a visit to the
museum which highlights the key events in the life of Mary, including the current
progress towards her Canonisation in the Catholic Church.

The pilgrims left Mary’s place around 2pm feeling inspired by this Australian nun’s
infectious joy, personality, compassion and respect for the dignity of all people.
